SALT revisited

Trance/spasm condition reversed

Salt intake now 2 teaspoons daily.

No trance or spasms during neurological tests:  rubber mallet strike just below the kneecaps and inside the elbows, staring at finger while it moves from edge to edge of field of vision, standing and balancing on one foot.

Pain that accompanied gain

Sally K. Norton in Toxic Superfoods, p. 246:  How do you judge how well your body likes the salt?  Remember, getting the nutrients you need can trigger oxalate release and launch feelings of unwellness.

Sign of another oxalate release appeared on one foot:  a perfectly round, dark red spot that burned.

Walked easily halfway down the street, but on the way back leg cramped and knee buckled every few steps.  Migraine began as I staggered through the door.  After a cup of water with lemon juice and salt, felt better and fell asleep.

Next day, red spot on the other foot.  Saw migraine aura, felt nauseous.  Very large doses of transdermal magneisum didn't relax the stiff muscles.

Couple of days after intravenous magnesium, stiff muscles relaxed, migraine gradually receded.  A week later, lifted computer equipment without pain.

Wonder if I could have recovered more quickly had I thought to increase the intake of calcium or the team members that help magnesium get into cells.  Sally K. Norton discusses how oxalates affect these nutrients in Toxic Superfoods chapter 15, Supporting Your Recovery.
